Questions & Answers

Answers to the most common questions you have when visiting a new church.

Refuge Christian Church is a different type of service compared to the other churches in the area. We are a church plant, meaning we don't have our own building at the moment but utilize other facilities in the area to host services. We are currently meeting at the Southern Boone High School Auditorium for Sunday Services from 10-11 AM. Additionally, Ashland Christian Church has lovingly allowed us to use their facilities for our Wednesday night Kids & Youth activities from 6-7:30 PM.

Essentially, we are a fun body of believers and don't hold to the normal traditions you might know regarding a church service. In fact, usually we start with a "Sunday Funny", a tradition that started September 2022 and has simply continued to bring joy to everyone.

After the "Sunday Funny", we go over announcements, leading up to praise & worship. We have a praise & worship band, made of a group of volunteers who have come together to lead us in 3 songs. You're welcomed to stand and sing with us, however, if you desire to stay seated that's a-ok, too!

After praise & worship, we begin the sermon portion of the service. Pastor April will have notes and scriptures displayed to help with taking notes or for those of us who are visual learners.

We do not have a dress code; clothing of course is required, but there is no defined or expected dress code. We have some folks who enjoy dressing up for Sunday Services, and we also have folks who enjoy wearing hoodies and jeans. We want you to be comfortable.

If you have a Bible, we encourage you to bring it with you. The translation we use here with Refuge is the Christian Standard Bible. If you don't have a Bible or if you forget your Bible, that's OK! We will have scriptures displayed on a screen for you, as well.

Currently, we have a team who rotates coverage of the nursery and providing activities for the older kiddos, think Kindergarten. Each team member has been through a background check and each Sunday will have at least two team members providing coverage. For those older kiddos, we have activity kits and crafts prepared to help stay occupied, even if the kiddos are sitting in the sanctuary. We ultimately want you to know that we welcome kiddos! We strongly believe in providing support and building up our young ones because they are our future. We also offer a Wednesday night kids ministry, called Mission 4:12.
